Hello world!

I am writing this from what will eventually be our computer room in our house. Right now it's an empty room with no AC, but it's got promise. We're waiting on our wood floors before we bring in the furniture, which means Shane gets to convince his wonderful brothers and father to spend a day working at our house!

The significance of all of this is that we now have internet and cable at our house! This means that I have no excuse for not getting the pictures posted as soon as I can. It's nice having access to the outside world again. We were getting a little sick of watching the movies we owned over and over again.

Watch for updates soon with links to the pictures!

Home again, home again...

Well, we are now officially home from all of our summer vacations! We got back from Hawaii last Wednesday morning (after another overnight flight that we didn't sleep on) and were able to spend two days in Salt Lake with my family. We also got to see a few friends that we hadn't seen in a while which was good.

We headed up to Logan on Friday morning for a luncheon for Shane's cousin's wedding. We spent Friday and Saturday helping set up for the wedding and spending time with all of Shane's family that we haven't seen in a while as well. Then we came back home with Shane's dad on Sunday.

I must say we've enjoyed this summer a ton! It was a great way to celebrate before the real world of work begins. As we were heading home on Sunday, Shane and I realized that because of our trips, babysitting, and moving we've been living out of a suitcase since August 5th!! It's nice to be back at our house, but there's plenty of work to do around there until we're completely moved in.

That's an update for now. We're working on getting internet to our house this week so I don't have to keep mooching off of Shane's family members. Once that's set up, I'll post all of our pictures...like I've been promising for over a month!!

This time I mean it...

A week in paradise...

Shane and I are now relaxing away in Hawaii with my family. We were invited to come to celebrate my dad's 50th birthday, which also happens to be our second wedding anniversary so we're not complaining at all!! We are staying in a beach house on Maui in Lahaina. The house is called Sharkpit, but we've been assured that the name doesn't allude to anything. We each have our own room, except for Sheri who makes a comfy bed for herself on the couch each night and we have an awesome beachfront view!! It's actually owned by an artist named Christian Riese Lassen. If you bought a cool ocean scene folder as a kid, chances are he painted it. The picture is the view from our back porch. That's the edge of the infinity pool (which makes us feel like we're in the OC).

We're here with my parents, Jared, Jessie, baby Vera, and my aunt Sheri. We got here on Tuesday and we leave next Tuesday. So far we've gone snorkeling, ate a lot of good food, taken many walks on the beach, and done a lot of swimming. Those who are certified are going scuba diving tomorrow morning and then I think we're going to go on a hike somewhere. We don't have many things planned, but it's nice having the flexibility to do whatever. We're just loving relaxing after our nonstop trip in Peru, the babysitting, and moving into our house!

I've been working to remind Vera of who I am. She still gets a little worried when I hold her, but I'm sure by the end she'll know who I am, just in time for me to leave again.

I was going to post some more pictures, but it took so long to upload the two I already have over this internet. I guess I'll just have to add more when we get back, along with the rest of the Peru pictures...

Home sweet home!

We got the keys to our house on Tuesday evening and have been working hard on it ever since. Shane already has all of the ceilings painted (even in the closets) and has painted all of the front room and kitchen. He's also installed two new ceiling fans (including a new wire that he pulled through the attic and came out sopping wet) and two new light fixtures. We've got the kitchen all set up and also our bedroom, so we're living in the house, but we're still waiting on the wood floors (probably until after Hawaii) and fixing up the extra bedrooms for now. It's been so fun getting everything fixed up!

My mom was here until Thursday night and she was a great help. She helped us re-stock the fridge and furnish a second bathroom. We also set her loose with the vacuum and she cleaned every corner of our house!

Because of all this craziness, we have been out of touch with the technological world. Basically, that's my excuse for not finishing the Peru pictures and not posting any pictures of our house yet, but we'll get them up soon so you can all enjoy them. Another good excuse is Tom's internet isn't working and that's where all of our computers are...

We'll get pictures up soon!
